I recently picked up a Nexus 7 running Android 4.1 to do some development
testing on with Mono, but it fails when attempting to push the apk to the
device with this output:

"Detecting shared runtime location

Detecting package list location

Getting package list from device

Failed to get package list. Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1,
position 1."

I'm using Monodevelop and have tried it with alpha, beta and stable channels
with the same result. The device shows up in "adb devices" and I can shell
into it without a problem, and the projects I've tried pushing to it build
correctly and will install to other devices, just not this one. Is there a
fix for this?
