I am using monodevelop(3.0.2) on a mac, and Mono for Android: 4.2.2.134493563. I have set my target api level to 8, my minimum api level to 7, checked "deploy to external storage" and ensured that install location drop down is set to preferexternal. When run on device direct from monodevelop in release config it instals externally however if I publish the signed package and install this on my phone it will only install internally.
The setting instalLocation:preferExternal shows in /properties/androidmanifest.xml but not it /obj/release/android/androidmanifest.xml (everything else is refelected in here). There was another post relevant a while back however solution (as above) did not work in my case. This is my first project and I have been battling with this for hours!
