Because it broke when I tried to use it on the Android 2.1 emulator. ;-) More specifically, it's because the libsqlite.so that's included with Android 2.1 and earlier lack many of the exports that Mono.Data.Sqlite requires. Android 2.2+ isn't perfect here either -- see https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2128 -- but at least with Android 2.2+ you can actually use a SqliteCommand.
