The package mono-complete should be installed to install everything - this
should cover most cases of “assembly not found” errors.

After the installation completed successfully, it’s a good idea to run through
the basic hello world examples on this page to verify Mono is working correctly.

No. If you write an application such as GTK#Hello which requires GTK# and you
distribute a rpm or deb, then your rpm or deb should depend on gtk-sharp. But
GTK# is not part of mono. It's a graphics library. The reason you need it is
because you wrote a graphics application.
