I experience exactly the same problem. I have a ASP.NET site running with
mod_mono/Apache 2. The application is accessing a Firebird database.

The site is running on mono since version 1.0.4. I was frequently updating to
new mono versions. The "zomie problem" appeared in Version 1.1.17 or 1.1.18 as
far as I remember. Since the site is running despite the growing amount of
zombie processes I restart the mono processes with monopanel every now and
then. Until now I didn't find the time for further investigation.

Yesterday I run the site with XSP only (no apache/mod_mono) on a new Mono 1.2.1
installation but the problem is still there. I use the Linux Mono installers
from the Mono website on Fedora Core 6 and Debian 3.1. I am using XSP (not
XSP2) and Firebird 1.5 with an older driver from the IBPhoenix site.
Additionally my application uses log4net. No process calls or external
programms.

Please tell me if you need more information.

Thanx in advance,

/daniel
