I am slightly puzzled by this , if you want to cool the water invest in a
bigger radiator , if you want to cool the oil invest in an oil cooler. You seem
to have invested in an oil cooler to help you cool the water, which is not
logical (to me anyway). However I do respect Keith's judgement and he must have
learned something about this from another car possibly.

My +8 has the crossover Librands exhausts under the sump and I don't think I
need an oil cooler.  I do however have a larger alloy radiator which keeps my
water temperature in between the thermostat opening temperature of 85 Deg C and
98 Deg when the fan cuts in. My fan only cuts in when in heavy traffic or when
I am stationary, whenever I can move at a reasonable speed I have no water
cooling issues.

You may like the look of the cooler under the nose , but I don't think it is
necessary.

Modern oils are designed to run very hot , and overcooling them causes more
issues generally than overheating them.

If you have gained an improvement that is fine, but I suspect you would have
been equally pleased , if not more so, by going for the alloy radiator.
