Rob, really sorry to here your news, I had a similar fracture to the Roadster cased by some sliding gate rail mechanism a couple of years ago & fitted the Mulfab exchange sump (he isn't worried about the damage as it gets cut out anyway)
I recon we must have used the same exit today as you, as Pauline pointed out to watch how I placed the front wheels to make sure we didn't clip the back wheel on the 3 wheeler, & the lump of iron sticking up did look meaty Regards, Jon -----Original Message----- From: Rob Walker [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 02 September 2012 17:24 To: mogtalk2 Subject: [mogtalk2] Roadster sumps Hi all, Very bad day in Rotherham, our roadster has sustained severe damage to the sump caused by some sort of obstruction in the road (i think the object is designed to be used for securing gates when closed, but is around 3-4 inches high and - as i found out to my cost - very solidly constructed). Basically, I now have oil dripping from the lowest point of the engine, and I suspect it is out of action for a few days at least - and here endeth all hopes for "Morgans at Windermere" at the end of the week! I contacted the AA, and they advised me that as I had come into contact with something on the road, the damage qualifies as a Road Traffic Accident, and (as I had reached home) they refused to attend. As I was leaving an organised event, and still technically on the premises where the event took place, I have notified the organisers of what has happened. Have any other Roadster owners had similar misfortune? Does insurance cover damage of this nature? Any advice gratefully received......
