why:
I would like to publish a pure-perl module Regexp::ERE for POSIX
Extended Regular Expressions and Finite Automata (with
implementation of standard algorithms for regular languages,
including Warshall's algorithm and Hopcroft's algorithms);
Regexp::ERE would also include a heuristic for deriving drop-downs
from regular expressions (it was the main motivation why I wrote
Regexp::ERE).
