well, i don't like VCS either.  i've never seen that anywhere save
CPAN.

i think we should only use initializations for the most common
things (e.g. TCP, HTTP, HTML).

DBI? :-) VCS is used outside CPAN, so is VFS, but I understand your point.

FileSys:::Virtual is a more describing name of what it is.

Any other module maintainers care to make their voices heard?
