there is a Compress::Bzip2 1.01 on CPAN in authors/id/Z/ZO/ZOOVY which is current interface to bzip2 and supports changes in the library in its post 1.0 version. However, the by-module path and other sources (CPAN.pm) lead to the older 1.00 version, which is no longer compiling cleanly with current bzip2. Also, the original author does not seem to respond (his email is invalid).
