The following module was proposed for inclusion in the Module List:

  modid:       CDDB_get
  DSLIP:       Mdpfp
  description: Get CDDB entry for an audio CD in drive
  userid:      FONKIE (Armin Obersteiner)
  chapterid:   23 (Miscellaneous_Modules)
  communities:
    freshmeat.net

  similar:
    Net::CDDB

  rationale:

    hi!

    it's me again ...

    i'm not sure about the namespace, but a lot of users load it from
    my homepage and from freshmeat, so it should be on CPAN somewhere in
    the official namespace ... i just wrote the module name as
    suggestion, but it has at least 3 places in the namespace:

    Net::CDDB Audio::CDDB_get AudioCD::CDDB_get CDDB::Get Disk::CDDB
    CDDB ...

    my modules does:

    a) it reads the toc from a disk b) it calculates CDDB info c) it
    gets the CDDB info from the net (direct, http + proxy)

    it includes a demo script:

    /usr/bin/cddb.pl: gets CDDB info of a CD no argument - gets CDDB
    info of CD in your drive -o offline mode - just stores CD info -d
    output in xmcd format -s save in xmcd format -i write to mysql db -t
    output toc -l output lame command -f http mode (e.g. through
    firewalls) -g get CDDB info for stored CDs -D put CDDB_get in debug
    mode

    all other modules miss some features or ar not maintained. (i'm not
    talking about the script)

    your last finding was to split it up in 2-3 modules, but this is a
    funny way to solve namespace problems ;-)

    Ciao, Armin
