That would have been my inclination -- but apparently it takes three days to delete a file and in the mean time it wouldn't let me upload the same file to a different location.
I've resolved it for now; as it happens I've updated the library and bumped the version number - but it would still be nice to know how to do this -- and how to delete a file more immediately.
