Actually, I meant to list. Looks like Chris has done the right thing
in trying to contact the author.

Elaine, could you enlighten us on the steps for taking over a module?
[Google hasn't helped me find a useful reference].

Did you want emails to go just to you or to the whole list??

by Les Howard, Last updated: Mar 11, 2000
I sent email to Les on 2002-11-07, 2003-02-05 and 2003-05-30, and
received no reply any of those times. I've sent email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (which bounces) and to [EMAIL PROTECTED] I
submitted my patch to rt.cpan.org this morning (I should have done that
earlier, but I didn't think of it)
  http://search.cpan.org/author/LHOWARD/Number-Spell-0.04/
  http://rt.cpan.org/NoAuth/Bugs.html?Dist=Number-Spell

Below are the emails I sent and the patch itself.

Thanks for organizing this effort!
Chris

Les,

I just discovered your Number::Spell package. Cool! In your "to do"
list, you mention writing support for the word -> number conversion.
Well, it's probably not really appropriate, but last month there was a
Perl::Golf competition to solve that problem with the shortest program
possible. The contest only requires support up to 999,999,999,999.

See http://perlgolf.sourceforge.net/ and look under contest "5b".

Also, I found a couple of bugs in the EU testing code. Attached is a
patch to test.pl to fix them.

Best wishes,
Chris Dolan

[I tried sending this to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but the email bounced from
spamcop.net]

This is a resend of the patch I sent you last Nov 7. Instead of three
patches, I made them into one. This patch (attached; made against
Number::Spell v0.04) accomplishes the following improvements:

 * Fixes a typo in test.pl ("ninty" -> "ninety")
 * Adds support for negative numbers
 * Adds rudimentary support for decimals
 * Adds tests for the above two new features in test.pl

If you have lost interest in this module, I'd be happy to take over
maintainership for you.

This is my third attempted submission in six months of my Number::Spell
patch. I reiterate my interest in assuming the maintainership of this
module. Please respond. Your [EMAIL PROTECTED] address is still broken.
