Gary, FWIW I run dual core 64 bit opterons on 3 machines with Fedora 6 64-bit and haven't had any memory discrepancies between my live 64 bit machines and my dev 32 bit environment. I use the stock httpd.prefork that comes with Fedora 6 with mod_perl loaded as a DSO.
