A client of mine provides a data service using Apache 2 and auto indexing. Their clients automatically poll their system and pull the data from the http directories as it is generated.
Their typical directories have 24 hourly files for the last 4 months (about 3000 files in each directory). A new file is generated each hour, and sometimes earlier files must be revised if problems were detected. Apache HTTPD supports a pattern filter parameter (P) when requesting auto indexed directories, but I am not aware of any way to request a directory listing using a last-modified-date parameter. Using the last-modified-date parameter is ideal as scraper clients can ask for any new files since their last query, and get both expected and any revised data files. I haven't seen any modules to provide a last-modified-date functionality to Apache httpd -- has anyone seen an MP2 script to do it?
