In light of my recent behavior on the dev@perl.apache.org list, I'd like to publicly apologize to both Stas Bekman (personally) and both the PMC and dev@perl.apache.org (collectively).
In trying to respond to concerns from PMC people that I was focusing too
much on Stas, I brought some private conversations or parts thereof back
into the main dev@ list without seeking his permission first, which was
(in his words) "f*#cking rude". He is completely correct in this regard,
and would have been completely justified in kicking me from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I have complete respect for Stas as developer for doing the work involved in creating mod_perl2, as I'm fully aware how hard it can be for people to actually muck in and get things done.
I won't attempt to push my views on this issue any longer, beyond to thank the PMC for acknowledging that the concerns of myself and others are real and deserve to be addressed formally. If I am to make any additional posts to the lists, it will be merely to add new information for general discussion, and not to discuss problems or solutions.
I can only hope that my thoughtless discretion will not cause people to
automatically dismiss some of the points I raised during this process, as can often be the case in these sorts of situations.
For the record, although most of the requests have been to resolve the
problems by moving to Apache2::, I don't personally feel that this is the only way to resolve them, only one of about 4 or 5 ways, although possibly the most immediately obvious.
That the PMC will reconsider the situation in light of the new problems
identified is all I can ask, and all I had hoped. It is their problem, and they are the ones that need to make the judgment call on the future of mod_perl.
Once the PMC has made an informed decision, there will of course be no point to continuing the discussion, and I plan to get back to my current projects and limit myself to more positive activities.
Regards
Adam Kennedy
