Ok, it looks like ModemManager is attempting to use PPP on the device because MM doesn't handle the Telit cdc-ncm ethernet-like interface that the modem provides. Ideally we'd like to use that interface, rather than PPP but that's unimplemented for now, it seems. But with your current setup, MM is waiting for you to start pppd on the data port to configure the IP details.
