I think there is a big misunderstanding with that mplex can do and what you intend to do. mplex can multiplex (mpeg) audio, (mpeg) video and subtitle together with control information so the resulting stream corresponds to the mpeg format. And can be played back by the typical mpeg player either hard or software.
For more help it would be very helpful to know how the *ts streams are created. .ts is often used for transport streams from digital satellite receivers, which are already multiplexed.
