How will saving a characteristic image from the beginning and end of a show help identify when commercials interrupt it? Commercials usually interrupt a show a few times during the length of the show. One image from the beginning and one image from the end most likely will not help you identify commercials in the middle. Unless, you're recording something like PBS. So, I suppose you could take more images from the show, just before and after those interrupting commercials, but then you would need to figure out when to take those images. Sounds like chasing your own tail :-) Have you considered just looking for those awful watermarks every network overlays during broadcast? Strangely enough, those watermarks aren't added during commercials. Makes you wonder who the networks really want to serve.
