Older Via chipsets are usually more problematic.

I use a 2.6.18.1 kernel (from kernel.org) on a Suse 10.1 with the cvs
version of the mjpegtools. And there the mjpegtools (lavrec) and xawtv
works (did not test with mplayer the last time)

Does xawtv and lavrec work ? (And with which versions did you use)

Normally the 2.6.18 should work find. I have also worked with the
2.6.17.2 and 2.6.16.20, and they did all work.

auf hoffentlich bald,
