On my machine I have X.org 6.8.2 on a Suse 10 with a Matrox P650 (HW acceleration turned off), the Composite extension is not installed till now. Whenn I add it as Extension to the server. The Machine crashes when I start X11, so it is hard for me to do any tests.
Would it be possible for you to do a backtrace ?
