Ok - that answers the first part of the question and now I'll chime
in with the second part ("if not ... what card should I get") :-)
My recommendation, if you're not looking to spend a ton of money,
would be a $20 IEEE1394 card (if your motherboard doesn't already
have integrated Firewire) and an analog<->DV converter box such
as the Canopus ADVC-110. http://www.canopus.com and look around.
If you're looking to spend $$$ then let me know - I've no shortage
of ideas there either <grin>
