We're having trouble using Linux DV and Kino with boxes like this: http://www.datavideo-tek.com/products/dac_100_main_page.htm
The system is an x86_64 system, running Kino 0.7.4 on Fedora Core 2. I am capturing into an ffmpeg pipe, so CPU load is pretty high. It will work for a while and then lock up. The dv1394 module can not be removed, even though lsmod shows a usage count of 0. The computer and the DAC-100 must both be rebooted to work properly. Some error messages are logged. I can furnish those later; I'm not with the machine right now. We also have a few Canopus ADVC300s, which work flawlessly. http://www.canopus.us/US/products/ADVC300/pm_advc300.asp Is anyone here familiar with the DataVideo product? Maybe we'll just return them to the dealer and get the Canopus boxes instead, although they are considerably more expensive.
