Sirs:

I have a odd problem with avi QuickTime playback and was wondering if anyone
else had experienced it. I have a DC10+ card capturing video using lavrec
(more or less stock options -fa -q40). The resulting videos play fine under
Linux and Win2k media player (built in codec?). If I try and play them
under QuickTime for windows (and this is the odd part) most will fail with
an error about the video stream, fine, codec mjpeg-a & mjpeg-b must be
different then the one created by mjpegtools. But, some of the videos play
fine with QuickTime. They are all recorded with the same card and system,
they all play with media player, but only some with quicktime. If I
recompress the videos with virtualdub (different mjpeg codec, Morgan I
think) then QuickTime is happy with them all.

I have dumped the avi file headers to see if there was any major difference
between working and non-working files but couldn't see any (but then I'm no
expert). So if anyone has a good explanation I'd love hearing it.

I appreciate any help.

Thank-you

Douglas
