Some additional notes to the mail from Ronald.

For that you should also take a look at the mjpeg howto section:
Creating movie transitions to see how it is done one the command line.
That might to help you to understand what LVS ist doing.

And Creating videos from images, to get a video from a single picture. 
If you only have a single image you want to show for a certain time
than: ppmty4m -r -n, and jpeg2yuv -l options ar important depending on
which programm you want to use.
