Good - which tells me that if I stick at it I should find the problem
:-)

Hm - type that time, but this has happened before when I have remembered
the -i. Even more curious is my latest experiment:

I need to record a longish piece. I set it going, pointing the file to
/Data/cottingley.avi, and left it to get on. When I came back
recording had stopped with the message

++ WARN: [lavrec] Number of given output files reached0.002 td2=0.0461
0.15.28:11 int:040 lst: 13 ins: 3 del: 0 ae: 0 td1=0.002 td2=0.046
Recording time : 0.15.28:11
Lost frames : 013
A/V sync ins/del: 003/000
Audio errors : 000

It had produced the following files:

/home/david/i 1.7GB # part one of the recording
/home/david/P 1.7GB # part two of the recording
/Data/cottingley.avi 1.7GB # part 3 of the recording.

There is, I think, about as much tape again left to record.

The file in /Data plays perfectly with any media player. The other two
play with glav -p S, but crash any media player I try.

Unrelated, I'm sure, but I tried LVS's split scene routine on another
.avi, and in place of the 703MB file I have just 92B.
