For the past two years I have been using the PicVideo codec and I've been
very happy. However, I recently upgraded to Mandrake 10.0 and this codec no
longer handles interlaced AVIs captured from lavrec (and I'm not sure why
yet).

A few weeks ago I switched to using the Morgan codec. It seems to handles
the interlaced video correctly, but when I process video with AviSynth the U
and V data gets swapped (but it is easily correctable using SwapUV()).

I have tried the MainConcept codec as well, and I like it the least.

I believe that you can download a trial version of the PicVideo codec. If
it works for your needs, then stick with it. Otherwise, give the Morgan
codec a try.

Subject: [Mjpeg-users] Offtopic: Software MJPEG De/Encoder

Hi,

Please excuse this post being a little bit off-topic. But I do not know
where
to ask otherwise. Maybe, I can get a hint where it is more suitable to ask.

I am using the mjpeg tools heavily, but sometimes I need to use a Win98 box.

For that, I need an mjpeg en/decoder. On the market I found three products:
PicVideo, MainConcept, and Morgan.

Which one is preferable?

Thank you very much

Michael
