        That is a bug in mencoder's yuv4mpeg2 output module.   That module
        is generating something like 23999808:1000000  instead of 24000:1001

        I do something similar when using the yuv4mpeg2 output of mencoder.
        There are many ways to generate a correct header and pass the data
        thru.
