I've been doing a lot of video encoding over the last several weeks with
mjpegtools, and it's great! One suggestion I have is that perhaps when
encoding to MPEG, the codec spend more bandwidth on the center of the
picture in preference to the edges, or have an option to do so. I've had
some videos of outdoor events which have a lot of background movement, and
I thought they might look a lot clearer if the bandwidth were dedicated to
the center of the picture while the edges only got a nominal amount.
Especially since most NTSC TV's cut off 10% of your frame on all edges.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. yuvdenoise kicks butt - for indoor videos
I'm actually having better-looking VCDs than my source material!
