If that Recorder can output the video to fire-wire you might be able to
capture it with dvgrab/kino (http://www.schirmacher.de/)

If that recorder only has analog output you need a capture card.
Something like zoran based card like the DC10/BUZ/LML33 oder Matrox
Marvel based cards. If you need good quality I would not recommend a
bttv based card. 
It will also work if you have a Analog to Fire Wire converter (Canopus
Box for example) and capture than with dvgrab. 

In both cases you can than process that recorded videso with the
mjpegtools.

For more information take a look at the mjpeg-howto at sf
(mjpeg.sf.net). There is a nice part how to seperate single images from
a recroded video.
