I'm trying to figure out if I can use the "MJPEG Tools" to work with SGI MJPEG, captured on an O2 workstation. I can't find any references to SGI or IRIX in the sourceforge pages, but I did find such references in the sources. But those references appear to be related to _building_ the tools, and maybe not actually _using_ them, so I'm not sure if it will work or not. VirtualDub doesn't understand SGI MJPEG, and neither does Premiere for Windows.
I don't currently have Linux installed on any of my boxes right now, but if the tools work with SGI MJPEG, then I'll move forward with setting up Linux+XFS...
