        Well, I have a G4 Mac Powerbook but I'm not sure how much help I
        can be to the fellow.   I don't download anything that's precompiled
        but instead do a "cvs update" and just build it.

        The binary OS/X mpeg2enc binary that's available for download is
        ancient anyhow :)   I'm updating now to get the changes Andrew
        checked in for generating closed GOPs.

        I could make a executable available if it'd help (it does require
        the GNU getopt library libgnugetopt but that's trivial to build) when
        I get back from vacation.
