Next week I will try a 3rd RAM-module.

I can't imagine, that my hd was full before I added a lot for
compiling, but now it is:

df -T
Filesystem Type 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdb8 ext3 4237740 3983036 39436 100% /
/dev/hdb1 ext3 69973 14245 52115 22% /boot

How much /tmp do I need for mpeg2enc?

Could it be possible that a full hd is the reason for the crashes?
Please note the partitions for encoding:

/dev/hdc1 xfs 58608520 36408700 22199820 63% /media_in
/dev/hda1 xfs 58509588 49926444 8583144 86% /media_out

I will setup the pc with more space for /.

Al
