I'm trying (again) to get my Buz to work properly. So I've suceeded so far in using the stable driver from CVS (straight 0.8 would not compile for me) and installing mjpegtools-1.6.1.
Now, I can sort of capture video, but it will stop at random times, anywhere from 10 seconds to 8 minutes. That 8 minute capture I actually suceeded in making that a test SVCD and played it on my living room (nice). But I'd like to get more reliable encoding. One thing that made a lot of difference for me was to increase the buffer size to 384. However, the size and quality of the images don't seem to matter, as it has failed within seconds running in decimation 4. I'm running 2.4.20 on a Gentoo system. It's a SiS 735 chipset on an Athlon XP 1700+ CPU. I could not get the 0.9 driver to compile, either 0.9.1 or the CVS branch. Can anybody help me? Here is the output from lavrec and my dmesg since the loading of the driver (notice no dropped frames): ++ WARN: [lavrec] Unable to set negative priority for main thread ++ WARN: [lavrec] Pthread Real-time scheduling for main thread could not be enabled ++ WARN: [lavrec] Unable to set negative priority for audio thread. ++ WARN: [lavrec] Pthread Real-time scheduling for audio thread could not be enabled. **ERROR: [lavrec] Error writing to output file legiao1.avi: Internal: broken JPEG format ++ WARN: [lavrec] Closing file(s) and exiting - output file(s) my not be readable due to error 0.01.48:09 int:033 lst: 0 ins: 0 del: 0 ae: 14 td1=0.004 td2=0.022 Recording time : 0.01.48:09 Lost frames : 000 A/V sync ins/del: 000/000 Audio errors : 014 i2c: initialized Linux video capture interface: v1.00 i2c: initialized Zoran ZR36060 + ZR36057/67 MJPEG board driver version 0.9 MJPEG[0]: Zoran ZR36057 (rev 1) irq: 11, memory: 0xcfefe000.
