I have Marvel and I tried these command lines with lavrec :
"lavrec -in -q80 -d1 -s test.avi"
"lavrec -in -b 128 -q80 -d1 -s test.avi"
"lavrec -in -q50 -d2 -s test.avi"
"lavrec -in -b 128 -q50 -d2 -s test.avi"
I tried differnet -b and -n options, in some cases -b 128 seems to work better
but it works best with -b 256

0 frame corruptions with
"lavrec -in -s test.avi" which would equeal to "-d4 -q50"
although I did not run that test for more that 15 minutes, as I did not intent to use it.

alot of frame insertions with -q95
I would expect to see dropped frames if my video card could not handle it?
I cant blame it on drivers as those do not crash the system nor report any problems.

Using Debian, Woody, Stable
clean kernel 2.4.20 w/ ACPI patch, using mgavideo 0.1.1b and tried mgavideo 0.1.0
no framebuffer support, system seems to be unstable with it
tried SB16 PCI, SbLive5.1, and onboard intel81x sound cards with:
Alsa, OSS/Free and OSS drivers, also tried emu10k1 with SBlive from sf.net
currently using commercial OSS drivers with onboard i81x
same results with every sound card I tried.

with -d1 -q80 , top shows 65%,  ranging -/+ 6% at -d2 -q50 its around 30%
