I have a question about the nature of the -4 and -2 options to
mpeg2enc. As far as I know, setting them to their maximum value of 1
basically throws more CPU time at motion detection, and thus how much of
the current frame can be copied from previous frames. Is it necessary
to do that in order to detect parts of the image that aren't moving at
all? That is, will "-4 4 -2 4" still detect all the non-moving parts of
the video?

Also, when I make DVDs, I've been interleaving the raw video, i.e. I
pass "-I 1" to yuv2lav. Is that necessary? Is it desirable? I ask
because I just realized that mpeg2enc can apparently take
non-interleaved still frames, as long as the frame height is a multiple
of 32.

Thanks in advance for your insights!
