This has been broken for ages - a year or more IIRC. The finger was pointed at avifile and nothing more has happened. The standard solution (for me and others) is to use mplayer's mencoder utility, which works correctly.

Wouldn't it make sense to remove lav2divx completely and put a pointer to mencoder in the documentation? I remember wasting hours trying to get it to work a year ago and the same seems to happen to every newcomer.
