Have you considered using a Canopus box and a fireware card to do your
captures. I do tons of unattended recording and this is what my current
setup consists of, after having been disapointed in MJPEG cards (LML 33,
Buz, WinTV).

Although keep in mind my destination is high quality DVD, which the
MJPEG cards are not well suited for.

Also, for your Tivo I recommend a RedRat2 IR transmitter connected to a
PC over the serial port and some scheduled perl scripts to do the
pushing of the buttons on your Tivo. This is essientally how my
scheduler works, although I created a web interface and a mysql database
to manage it all.
