This looks like a really interesting project and let us know how we can help you out with it. I'd encourage you to push your code to a public branch on Launchpad when you're done so we can perhaps use it in one form or another. What design do you have planned for your work? (If you don't want to share your design until the competition is over, I understand. We can also take this off-list, if you'd prefer.) The hardware demo video emphasizes the contextual aspect of the display, but a good way to demonstrate that with Mixxx hasn't jumped out at me. If you don't care about context, it might be cool to see the waveforms down there and have them be scratchable by touch. I'm sure you have more than enough ideas of your own by now though.
