Hi Ben,

This is a mailing list for rational project discussion. I will start
by asking that you remain constructive.

I meant mostly just that as you said, integrating someone else's store
means you don't get to pick what you show so much, as you mentioned in
the Traktor example, it shows stuff you already know which isn't what
you want. If we do it ourselves we can take feedback like that and
change things. But I don't think this is as important as your general
points below, so I'll move straight on to them.

These are not necessarily huge amounts of money, we have a lot of
traffic by open source standards but not compared to many more
established advertising channels. Initially at least we will only be
talking to indie labels.

This is the most important point and a good question, we should have
discussed this earlier. Our long-term plan is to use the money to
support Mixxx development, hopefully through hiring either a part-time
or full-time developer but depending on how much revenue we can
create.

But I can't make you believe anything I or anyone else says. Of course
there's always the risk we could go off and spend it all on chocolate.
But I offer the following, which in my opinion are reasonable reasons
to trust us: Albert, RJ and myself all strongly support this and we
are most of the longest term contributors to Mixxx still involved in
the project today. We all have a lot invested in Mixxx and have made
long term commitments to the project over a long period, around 5
years in my case. We all think this is a great way to fund Mixxx
development and at the same time actually add useful functionality for
users.

Perhaps I should add that if anyone who has contributed code to Mixxx
is concerned about how their work is going to be used in the future
they are welcome to ask questions on the list or contact me
personally.

Adam
