Hi Sean,

The plan was to have 1.7.2 in Lucid Lynx if we didn't have 1.8.0 in,
and that is currently the case:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/mixxx

What are the "important fixes" in the 1.7 branch that came after 1.7.2?

Right now, our only path to getting Mixxx into Ubuntu is through
Debian, and it can take upwards of a few weeks to get a new version of
Mixxx into Debian. Also, the Ubuntu MOTU guys really don't like it
when we ask them to do stuff right before their deadlines - I'm pretty
sure I used up all our good karma with them on 1.5 and 1.6. :)

Those are a few of the reasons why we plan our releases ahead of time.
If you want to propose a change in the release schedule so that we get
Mixxx version X into Ubuntu version Y, you have to do it well ahead of
any deadlines because there's too many people involved with volatile
schedules. There's so much uncertainty in how quickly things will get
done (since we're all working in our spare time), that you have to
leave huge flex time in our schedules. Even if there was a critical
bug in 1.7.2, it's not fair to our Debian packager to be like, "Hey,
Mixxx is going to crash for every DJ on Debian and Ubuntu unless YOU
update the package TODAY!".

Thanks,
Albert
