If it's not mentioned on the man pages it might (or may not) work with (or without) issues, so go with the athn(4). I have an AR5413 (Wistron DCMA81) on an alix 2c1 configured as a BSS, and have lots of problems: no 11g; has to be configured in a certain order so as to not lock the box, and subsequent ifconfig down/up results in a lock; needs a reboot every 3-5 days when the wireless stops responding.
