I have only available another ethernet card (the embedded one of the
box), that is a broadcom (bge0 as ifconfig tells). But I read
somewhere that 4.6 came with broken support for Broadcom cards, anyway
I rebuilt kernel two weeks ago so I should be ok for that point.

Definitely, it's worth giving a try using the broadcom ethernet
performing the very same tests.

Anyway, I still get confused by the fact that modifying tcp recv
window size via sysctl dramatically improved the downlink (from
internet to server) capabilities.
Unfortunately, changing size for send window didn't lead to any
improvements.
