Yeah, it's always interesting trying to determine what someone is really trying to ask.
My guess would be that if you have high-speed UARTs, then you know what you're doing and have a notion of the cables you need (and recognize that this setup is basically a Bad Idea (tm)). I realized later that OP mentioned 3 machines, not 2, making "real network" an even more suitable solution.
Serial Bus ;-) but I doubt that's what they had in mind.
