There is working suspend for APM notebooks like the X40.
Suspend or shall i say resume, for ACPI based systems is work in
progress.
Can't say i miss it on my X200. Booting is fast enough, even from
rotating rust.

Answer to OPs question:
Suspend/resume is not supported/working on the X200 atm.
