Show the error messages please, if you want help with this.

I don't have the modem anymore. I sent you copies of config files
I still have on my disk from when I used the modem. There may be
something I forgot to send you. To diagnose any problems you'll have
to provide the necessary information.

At this point I'd probably ring the ISP and ask them what's up with that.
But don't even mention you don't use Windows. They hang up on you if you
admit that. At least they did that to me, I rang them a few times to make
sure my connection problems were not on their side. Just pretending to be
using Windows turned out to make things much easier.

I don't know whether three.ie have a mandatory web proxy, or do destination
port filtering or some such. That might well be possible. They are mostly
catering to the crowd who are happy enough if all they can do is browse
facebook.

I never used three.ie's connection directly. Instead, I used it to build
a VPN to a sane ISP and used that as default route. That worked rather well.
As a bonus this also got me a public IP instead of being hidden behind
a huge NAT.

So you could try running a VPN to a computer you control and use it as
a relay for all your traffic. IPsec might work, haven't tried.
Both openvpn-based and pptp-based VPNs worked very well for me through
the three.ie link.
