i am not sure how mutt operates but i can confirm very poor performance if the mailbox is on flash devices even with mailboxes 20-30M big. i tried to outsmart it putting the mbox on mfs but it's no use, it is still tampering with the flash for reasons i cannot explain. mutt is slow. -f -- never enough. it is never enough.
