one possible answer is, "now full table is 266k routes we have run out of TCAM space. we've been hanging on the last few months by filtering incoming routes to avoid switching in software on the underpowered CPU, but it isn't pretty, and for the cost of those 3BXL blades we could buy a handful of decent machines to run OpenBSD on". even if it doesn't apply here, I bet other people are in this situation and wondering whether to lay down the cash for 3BXL, or try a 7201 or something, or if they should look at OpenBSD. well, at least as far as equipment costs go, testing isn't all that expensive, if it isn't good enough yet the test machine can be used elsewhere (until it is :-) and it may just fit the bill...
