Hello, all.

I'm brand new to this list, so I don't know anyone here. Also, I'm a
BSD newb who has mostly worked with Linux and some proprietary Unixes.

As the subject summarizes, I am trying to install an OpenBSD box for a
client who wants 8GB RAM. I did some searching and found only a
couple relevant links, one indicating that support for this
('largemem') was added to -current no later than July 2008. There are
also reports (dmesg dumps) online claiming to have running systems
that recognize 8GB and even 200GB(!) of RAM.

I recently obtained advance copies of the new 4.4 release ISOs, which
should theoretically support 8GB RAM, especially the amd64 version
since it doesn't have the 32-bit limitation. After installation, it
only sees 3.5GB, according to 'top'... not even a full 4GB! This is
also strange because the messages that display as the kernel is
booting seem to show that it sees all four 2GB sticks of RAM...

So, what am I missing here? Is this a known issue with a simple
solution (please, please, please!).. Or is my hardware just
incompatible?

Speaking of which:

CPU: Xeon X3220
RAM: 8GB 667MHz
Disk 1: 500G SATA
Disk 2: 500G SATA
RAID Card: 3Ware 8006-2LP
Motherboard: Supermicro PDSML-LN2+

I *really* appreciate any advice or help in this matter... Thanks!!

Jason
