Wow you guys are exactly right, just did a sha1 sum of a copy of httpd from my backup, it is indeed different.
Using my backup disk now... I have tried to just copy httpd over, but no dice... using the backup disk does work now. This is very surprising, as I have never seen a real disk failure in my life! So thank you very much for the heads up, I'll put up more of what happened tomorrow. :D
